Privacy policy

This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information Lodge Portfolio Media Inc. collects through lodgeportfolio.com, why we collect it, who sees it and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to meet the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Who we are

lodgeportfolio.com is published by Lodge Portfolio Media Inc., a company incorporated in Ontario, Canada, Business Number 792416053, at 250 University Avenue, Suite 610, Toronto, ON M5H 3E5. We are the organisation accountable for the personal information described here. Questions go to [email protected], which reaches the person responsible for privacy at this company.

We are an independent publisher of casino hotel reviews. We do not operate a casino, take wagers or process gambling payments, so we never hold financial, betting or account data of that kind about anyone.

2. What we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact form — your name, email address, chosen subject and the content of your message.
  • Newsletter — your email address, and the fact that you consented and when.

Those two forms are the only places on this site where you can type anything. There are no accounts, no logins and no user profiles.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs — IP address, date and time, page requested, referring page, browser and operating system. Our hosting provider generates these automatically as part of delivering the site securely.
  • Cookies — one essential cookie recording your cookie choice, plus analytics or advertising-measurement cookies only if you consent. See the cookie policy.

What we never collect

We do not collect payment details, government identifiers, health information or anything about gambling behaviour. We do not buy personal information from data brokers, and we do not build profiles of readers.

3. Why we collect it

We do not use personal information for any purpose other than the one it was collected for without asking you first.

We ask for consent before collecting personal information and we make the purpose clear at the point of collection. Consent for the newsletter is separate from consent to be answered — the newsletter box is unticked by default and ticking it is entirely optional.

You can withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual limits, by emailing [email protected] or using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before you withdrew it.

5. Who else sees it

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. Ever. It is shared only with:

  • Our hosting provider, which stores the site and generates server logs on our instruction, on servers located in Canada.
  • Our email delivery provider, if you subscribe to the newsletter, solely to deliver it.
  • Analytics and advertising-measurement providers, only where you have consented to those cookie categories, and only in the form those services collect.
  • Law enforcement or a regulator, where we are legally required to disclose.

Service providers are bound by contract to use the information only for the service they provide to us. Where a provider processes data outside Canada, that information may be accessible to the courts and law enforcement of that country — a disclosure PIPEDA requires us to make.

We do not share anything with casino operators, hotel groups or gambling companies. Not your email address, not your message, not the fact that you visited.

6. How long we keep it

  • Contact messages — up to 24 months after the correspondence closes, then deleted.
  • Newsletter subscriptions — until you unsubscribe, plus a record of the unsubscribe so that we do not contact you again.
  • Server logs — up to 12 months.
  • Cookies — see the retention column in the cookie policy; the consent cookie lasts 180 days.

7. How we protect it

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to form submissions and the subscriber list is limited to the people who need it, protected by strong authentication. We keep the platform patched and we collect as little as possible in the first place — which remains the most effective safeguard available to a publisher.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm, we will report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and notify the people affected, as PIPEDA requires.

8. Your rights

Under PIPEDA you may:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy.
  • Ask us to correct anything inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Ask us to delete it, where no legal obligation requires us to keep it.
  • Withdraw consent for the newsletter or for cookie categories at any time.
  • Ask how it has been used and to whom it has been disclosed.
  • Complain to us, and to the Privacy Commissioner if our answer does not satisfy you.

Write to [email protected] with enough detail to identify your records. We respond within 30 days, free of charge in ordinary cases. If a request would take substantial work we will tell you before doing it and give you the option to narrow it.

9. Cookies

We use one essential cookie to remember your cookie choice so that the banner does not reappear on every page. Analytics and marketing cookies are set only after you accept them, and Google Consent Mode v2 is initialised in the denied state on every page load, before any tag can fire.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from the cookie policy page. Rejecting every optional cookie changes nothing about what you can read here — no content is gated behind consent.

10. Email and CASL

Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation requires express consent before sending commercial electronic messages, and we treat the newsletter that way. The consent box is unticked by default, we record when consent was given, every email identifies Lodge Portfolio Media Inc. with our postal address, and every email carries a working unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately.

We do not send advertising on behalf of third parties, and we never add an address to the newsletter because it was used to contact us.

11. Children and minors

This site publishes information about casino hotels, where the minimum gambling age is 18 or 19 depending on province. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province. If you believe a minor has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top of the page always reflects the current version. Material changes to how we handle personal information will be announced on the site before they take effect, and where consent is required we will ask again rather than assume it.

13. Questions and complaints

Write to us first — [email protected], or by post to Lodge Portfolio Media Inc., 250 University Avenue, Suite 610, Toronto, ON M5H 3E5. We will acknowledge within five working days and investigate.

If our response does not resolve the matter, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca or on 1-800-282-1376. You do not need our permission to do so, and doing so costs nothing.

In one paragraph

We collect an email address if you write to us or subscribe, and standard server logs. We use them to answer you and to keep the site working. We do not sell anything, we share nothing with gambling operators, and you can ask us for a copy or a deletion at any time.
