Every property we have reviewed in full, ordered by our editorial score. The list runs from a 200,000 square foot casino floor above Niagara Falls to a twenty-table room inside a restored railway station — because the best casino hotel for a weekend away is rarely the biggest one.
What makes a casino hotel worth the trip
A large casino floor on its own does not make a good stay. The properties that score highest here get four things right at once: a gaming floor with genuine variety rather than volume, rooms you would book without a casino attached, at least one restaurant worth a reservation, and a location that gives you something to do in daylight.
That last point separates the list more than anything else. Fallsview has the falls. Charlevoix has the St. Lawrence. Pickering has a highway interchange — and a very good modern gaming floor. Both kinds of property are on this list; the scores tell you which trade you are making.
How the score works
Each property is scored out of 10 across four criteria, then weighted: casino floor 35%, rooms and resort 30%, dining and entertainment 20%, value 15%. Scores are editorial judgements from our own visits, not user ratings, and they get revisited when a property renovates or changes hands.

How we review a casino hotel
The same sequence at every property, so the scores mean the same thing in Halifax as they do in Richmond.
We book and pay
Rooms are booked at public rates through normal channels. We do not accept hosted stays, comped rooms or paid placement, and no property sees a review before it publishes.
We walk the floor twice
Once on a weekday afternoon and once on a weekend evening. A gaming floor at 3pm on a Tuesday tells you almost nothing about the same room on a Saturday night.
We check the numbers
Machine and table counts are taken from operator material and checked against what we can see. Every review carries the month we last verified it.
We eat and sleep there
At least one sit-down meal and one night in a standard room — not a suite. Soundproofing, service at breakfast and the state of the bathroom all count.
We look for the exits
Visible responsible-gaming information, staffed support such as GameSense in BC, clock visibility, ATM placement and how easy it is to stop.
We revisit
Scores are reviewed annually and immediately after a renovation, an ownership change or a significant change to the gaming floor.
