Fallsview Casino Resort casino hotel in Niagara Falls, ON

Overview

Fallsview Casino Resort is the property most Canadians picture when they hear the phrase casino hotel. It is built into the escarpment above the Horseshoe Falls, which means the casino floor, the theatre, the restaurants and a 374-room hotel tower all sit inside one continuous building with a view that no other gaming property in the country can match.

The scale is the point. Roughly 200,000 square feet of casino floor holds close to 3,000 slot machines and around 130 gaming tables, making this the largest single casino floor in Canada. Despite that footprint the room never feels like a warehouse: the floor is broken into distinct zones with different ceiling heights, and the Grand Hall entrance under its glass dome gives arrivals somewhere to orient themselves.

What earns Fallsview its score is the completeness of the offer. Visitors who never touch a gaming table still get a 1,500-seat theatre with a genuine touring programme, a full spa, a shopping galleria and eight or nine restaurants ranging from a food court to serious steak. It functions as a resort first and reveals itself as a casino floor second, which is exactly the balance the best properties strike.

The casino floor

What is actually in the room, category by category. Counts are approximate and shift as machines are rotated — we last checked this property in July 2026.

  • Slots & slot machines

Around 3,000 modern slot machines occupy most of the floor, from penny denominations through to high-limit reel machines. The mix runs from classic three-reel steppers to the latest video slots and linked progressive jackpot terminals, with the newest cabinets grouped near the Grand Hall entrance.

  • Table games

Roughly 130 gaming tables cover blackjack in a wide spread of minimums, roulette, baccarat, craps, pai gow and a rotating set of carnival card games. Weekend evenings see nearly every table open with professional dealers on rotation; mid-week afternoons run about half the pit.

  • Poker room

A dedicated poker room runs cash games and a regular tournament calendar, mostly Texas Hold'em with Omaha appearing on the schedule. It sits away from the main floor, so it stays notably quieter than the pit.

  • Sportsbook

A sportsbook lounge with a large screen wall and its own seating operates alongside the main floor, following the opening of single-event wagering in Ontario.

  • Live casino

Live dealer table games are the backbone of the pit. Electronic table terminals with live-dealer feeds sit between the pit and the slot banks for players who want a lower minimum.

  • High rollers & VIP

Salon Privé and the high-limit slot room sit on an upper level with their own cage, dedicated hosts and 24/7 VIP service for qualifying players. Access is by invitation or by arrangement with a host.

Hotel & resort

The 374-room tower is the most in-demand casino hotel accommodation in the country, and rooms facing the Horseshoe Falls carry a premium that reflects it. Standard rooms are large by Canadian hotel standards, in a conservative, warm palette; the suites on the upper floors are where the money shows. The spa, indoor pool and fitness facilities are all reached without going outside — which, in a Niagara Falls February, matters more than it sounds.

On site

  • 374 rooms and suites
  • Full-service spa
  • Indoor pool and fitness centre
  • 1,500-seat Fallsview Theatre
  • Galleria shopping arcade
  • Direct indoor link to the falls-side promenade

Dining

Where to eat without leaving the property. Descriptions are our own; nothing here is paid placement.

21 Club Steak & Seafood

The property's upscale room — dry-aged beef, a long wine list and a dining room turned toward the view.

The Grand Buffet

A very large buffet that fills fast on weekend evenings. Book a time or expect to queue.

Ponte Vecchio

Italian, quieter than the buffet floor, popular as a pre-theatre option.

Food court and casual counters

Several quick-service options on the casino level for visitors who do not want to commit an evening to dinner.

Entertainment

The Fallsview Theatre is the busiest casino venue in Canada, programming international touring acts, comedy and tribute shows most weeks of the year. Ticketed shows are open to anyone — you do not need to enter the casino floor to attend, and the theatre has its own entrance and coat check.

Pros and cons

What works

  • Largest casino floor in Canada with genuine variety, not just volume
  • Falls-view rooms are a legitimate destination in their own right
  • Theatre programme good enough to justify a trip by itself
  • Everything connects indoors — spa, dining, theatre, gaming

What does not

  • Peak-season room rates are the highest of any Canadian casino hotel
  • Weekend evenings on the main floor are genuinely crowded
  • Parking and resort charges add up quickly

Verdict

If you are only going to see one casino hotel in Canada, this is the one. The scale is unmatched, the resort side is complete rather than token, and the setting does work that no interior design budget could replicate. Go mid-week and outside July and August if the rates matter to you.
