River Cree Resort & Casino casino hotel in Enoch (Edmonton), AB

Overview

River Cree sits on Enoch Cree Nation land immediately west of Edmonton, and it is the most complete resort campus in Alberta. Two hotels — a Marriott and a Century Casino-branded property — sit alongside the gaming floor, a large event centre, and twin NHL-regulation ice rinks that host junior hockey and public skating.

The gaming floor runs to roughly 100,000 square feet with around 1,000 slot machines and 40 gaming tables. Alberta's table limits and charitable gaming model give the pit a slightly different rhythm from Ontario or BC, and the floor is noticeably calmer mid-week.

Where River Cree stands apart is what surrounds the casino. Between the rinks, the event centre and the conference space, a large share of guests are on site for something other than gaming — which makes the whole property feel more like a community hub than a gambling destination.

The casino floor

What is actually in the room, category by category. Counts are approximate and shift as machines are rotated — we last checked this property in July 2026.

  • Slots & slot machines

Around 1,000 modern slot machines including a high-limit room and a good progressive selection.

  • Table games

Roughly 40 gaming tables — blackjack, roulette, baccarat, craps and card games, run by professional dealers under AGLC rules.

  • Poker room

A dedicated poker room with regular cash games and a tournament schedule; one of the better rooms in the prairies.

  • Sportsbook

Sports wagering available on the floor with lounge screens.

  • Live casino

Live dealer pit backed by electronic table terminals.

  • High rollers & VIP

A high-limit gaming area with host service and VIP amenities for qualifying players.

Hotel & resort

Roughly 400 rooms across the two attached hotels. The Marriott side is the newer and better appointed of the two, with a good fitness centre and pool; the second property is more basic and cheaper. Both connect to the casino and event centre under cover, which is not a small thing in an Edmonton January.

On site

  • approx. 400 rooms across two hotels
  • Twin NHL-size ice rinks
  • Event centre and conference space
  • Pool and fitness centre
  • Free parking

Dining

Where to eat without leaving the property. Descriptions are our own; nothing here is paid placement.

Sage

The signature dining room — steak-forward, the best meal on the property.

Tap 25 / sports lounge

Casual dining with screens beside the floor.

Buffet and quick counters

Standard casino-level options.

Entertainment

The event centre programmes concerts, MMA and community events, and the rinks pull a steady stream of hockey traffic. Show nights fill the hotels, so book early around any headline booking.

Pros and cons

What works

  • Most complete resort campus in Alberta
  • Two hotels give a real price range
  • Free parking and easy access from Edmonton
  • Strong poker room by prairie standards

What does not

  • You need a car
  • Dining is solid rather than special
  • Fewer table games than comparable eastern properties

Verdict

The default choice in northern Alberta and a genuinely good weekend base. Take the Marriott side, check the event calendar before you book, and expect a calmer floor than anything in Ontario.
