Deerfoot Inn & Casino
A highway inn with a casino attached — unpretentious, cheap, and useful.

Overview
Deerfoot Inn & Casino is what it says: a hotel on the Deerfoot Trail in southeast Calgary with a casino floor and a conference centre attached. It makes no claim to be a resort and is the better for the honesty.
The floor is modest — around 600 slot machines and 20 gaming tables — and the hotel runs to roughly 180 rooms at prices well below the Calgary average. For a night before an early flight, a conference, or a stopover on Highway 2, it does the job.
Set against Grey Eagle it is clearly the lesser property. Set against a generic airport hotel at the same price, it is the more interesting choice.
The casino floor
What is actually in the room, category by category. Counts are approximate and shift as machines are rotated — we last checked this property in July 2026.
Slots & slot machines
Around 600 slot machines in a compact, easily navigated room.
Table games
Roughly 20 gaming tables — blackjack, roulette and a small card game selection, at low minimums.
Poker room
Limited poker; check the current schedule.
Sportsbook
Sports wagering terminals available.
Live casino
Live dealer tables during peak hours, electronic terminals otherwise.
High rollers & VIP
No meaningful high-limit operation — Calgary high rollers go to Grey Eagle.
Hotel & resort
Roughly 180 rooms, well kept, entirely standard. There is a fitness room and a good-sized conference and banquet facility that drives much of the mid-week business. Highway noise is a factor on the trail-facing side.

Pros and cons
What works
- Cheapest casino hotel stay in Alberta
- Easy highway access and free parking
- Low minimums and an uncrowded floor
- Honest about what it is
What does not
- Small floor with limited variety
- Highway setting with nothing nearby
- No entertainment programme to speak of
Verdict
A practical stopover rather than a destination. If you want a cheap Calgary bed with a gaming floor downstairs, it is well judged. If you want a casino resort, drive to Grey Eagle.
